MICROVASCULAR ANASTOMOSIS ON A STENT FOR ORGAN DEFECT RECONSTRUCTION IN CANCER PATIENTS

Objective: To compare clinical outcomes between stent-assisted microvascular anastomosis and conventional manual suturing.
Methods: This study evaluated 40 patients undergoing radical tumor resection and subsequent free flap reconstruction. The observation group (OG, n=20) underwent flap-to-recipient microvascular anastomosis using a stent-assisted technique. The control group (CG, n=20) received classical manual suturing. Flap transfers involved 20 arterial and 34 venous anastomoses in the OG, and 20 arterial and 32 venous anastomoses in the CG.
Results: Flap survival rates showed no statistically significant difference between the two cohorts, reaching 85% in both groups. However, the OG demonstrated a highly significant, two-fold reduction in anastomotic time compared to the CG (p<0.001).
Conclusion: Stent-assisted microvascular anastomosis is a highly viable surgical alternative. The technique significantly minimizes operative and ischemic times, reduces vascular trauma, and ensures precise, layer-by-layer anatomical alignment of the proximal and distal vessel walls.
