Features of urinary excretion of 6-sulfatoximelatonin in patients with liver cirrhosis

P.K. Kholmatov, D.S. Dodkhoev, I.V. Yamnov

Immunoassay was studied urinary excretion of 6-sulfatoximelatonin (6-SOMT) in 28 patients with liver cirrhosis and in 15 healthy people conditionally to establish a criterion standard. Studies have shown that patients with liver’ cirrhosis changes in the excretion of 6-SOMT is not homogeneous. In 12 patients daily dynamics and significance of urinary 6-SOMT did not differ from those of healthy people. The remaining 16 patients revealed a violation of the daily dynamics: a significant reduction in nocturnal excretion of 6-SOMT and a significant increase in daily excretion. The results indicate the need of introducing a palliative drug melatonin patients with cirrhosis who have violated the daily dynamics of excretion of 6-SOMT.
