Eligibility and side effects of various contraceptive methods in women with diabetes

The study shows that modern contraceptive methods are highly effective and safe for women with diabetes mellitus (DM) type 1 in the phase compensation of the underlying disease and not having it expressed complications. Hormonal contraceptives, including individual selection of the type and dose of their component sex steroids, don’t have clinically significant adverse effects on carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, as well as the hemostatic system, potentially useful in 25 - 50% of women with type 1 diabetes.
