Modern methods of surgical treatment of nasal septum deformations

Authors are presented own experience of using modern septum surgery in 250 patients with various deformities of nasal septum. Long-term results were observed at term 1 to 3 years after surgery in 168 (67.2%) patients. Functional results presented in recovery or significant improvement in nasal breathing were good in 123 (73.2%) and satisfactory in 43 (25.6%) cases.

A significant improvement of motor activity of cilia of ciliated epithelium was detected in all operated patients. Smell improving was noted in 81.4% of patients. The authors note the effectiveness and physiology of modern methods of septoplasty in preservation of the support functions of nasal septum, and recommend them for widespread use in clinical practice of domestic otorhinolaryngology.
