Tuberculosis is one of the leading opportunistic infection and the main cause of death among HIVinfected patients.

Comparative analysis of influence HIV infection degree on TB incidence in Tajikistan (1853 cases of HIV infection) and Kyrgyzstan (2718 cases) revealed the following pattern features.

In the Republic of Tajikistan (RT) co-infection (TB / HIV) was detected in 9.2% from total number of HIV-positive people in country. Also found that high mortality rate among HIV-infected patients is associated with co-infection with TB and not AIDS. Thus, during 2005-2009 in RT 247 HIV-infected people have died, the cause of death in 75 of which was tuberculosis, what is 29.4%.

In the Kyrgyz Republic (KR) the total number of patients with mixed infection – HIV and TB – was 13.83%. HIV / TB is common in the age groups of 30 to 39 years. Mortality rate from HIV / TB also was highest (45.8%) in this age group. The most common form of the disease is infiltrative tuberculosis.

In both countries, injecting drug users accounted a significant proportion of HIV-infected patients, respectively – 1006 (54.3%) patients in RT and 1709 (66.7%) – in KR.
