Epidemiological evaluation of prosthetic periodontal lesions

In 787 investigated patients basic data of prosthesis hygienic condition has showed unsatisfactory prosthetic plaque index (PPI) in all age groups. The average for all surveyed adults the original data of symptoms PPI prevalence meet the minimum value of 4.5% (in the age group 30-39 years), the maximum - 49.2% (in the age group of 50-59 years of age and older). Optimization of individual and professional oral hygiene in these individuals significantly reduced the prevalence of plaque on the cervix of fixed prosthesis construction among the study groups (PPI were 1.4% among 20-29 year olds and 4.3% of patients in the age group 50-59 years and above), which confirms the effectiveness of the activity.
