Diagnostic value of neurosonography in traumatic intracranial hematoma of infants

The work is based on an analysis of 167 children with traumatic brain injury of varying severity (from 2005 to 2011) Neurosonographicstudy was performed in 143 (85,6%) patients because they had not yet been closed frontal fontanel.

In 19 (11,4%) children were identified intracranial hematoma various locations and types: intracerebral hematoma – in 9 (47,4%) patients, subdural hematoma – in 5 (26,3%) and in 5 (26,3%) children – epidural hematoma. The following surgical procedures: osteoplastic decompressive craniotomy – in 4 (21,1%) patients, in 2 (10,5%) cases - hematoma drained by closed drainage system Heyer-Schulte and in 2 (10,5%) – resection trepanation. Fatal outcomes was in 3 (1,8%) cases.
