One of the important epidemiological characteristics of HIV and hepatitis C is fast increasing of sexual transmission cases. This is particularly concerning for countries (including Tajikistan) with a high prevalence of HIV among injecting drug users (IDUs), because of the risk of infecting of their sexual partners who are not drug users.

The paper analyzes the effectiveness of treatment of chronic hepatitis C in HIV-infected women by drugs «PegIntron» and «Rebetol» (ribavirin). The study included 15 women aged 21 to 31 years, with HCV by genotype 1b, 3a and 3a, 1v in I, II and III clinical stages of HIV infection.

Epidemiological anamnesis has shown that in 2 (13,3%) patients with HIV infection occurred through intravenous drug use, 13 (86,7%) – with sexual transmission of infection from HIV-infected spouse – PIN.

Genotyping of HCV in examined patients revealed 3 (20,0%) patients were infected with genotype 1b, 7 (46,6%) – 3a, 5 (33,3%) – 3a , 1b. SVR in patients co-infected with HCV and HIV was 33,3%, which is equally encouraging results showing the effectiveness of this treatment regimen, taking into account the relevant predictors.

Keywords: HIV, hepatitis C , co-infected with HCV/HIV, Pegintron, Rebetol, sustained virologic response (SVR).
