This article analyzes the impact of antihypertensive preparation from group of angiotensin receptor antagonists (ARA) - «Telmisartan» in the treatment of 40 patients with arterial hypertension and metabolic syndrome.

During the treatment there was a significant reduction in the target blood pressure in76% ofpatients group I at day 6 from the beginning of antihypertensive therapy, resulting in a further correction treatment. Whereas in 95% of patients group II observed a significant hypotensive effect on day 3 of the therapy beginning.

Treatment with ARA - «Telmisartan» led to sustained reduction in blood pressure and improve the lipid profile of blood serum which can prevent the development of atherosclerosis in these patients. Telmisartan, along with a decrease in blood pressure, has a favorable pleiotropic effect and is one of the drugs of choice for the prevention of cardiovascular complications in patients with hypertension and AO.
