The deficit of apoptosis cells is diacritical sign of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). M2Yn is a natural extract from plants of Central Asia, noted for its anti-angiogenic properties and the ability to block of malignant cellsmigration.

In total, we have selected 7 untreated CLL patients (4 men and 3 women), all were classified as Binet stage A, mean age 63±10 years.

Treatment of patients with CLL cells invitro drug «M2Yn» led to intranuclear DNA fragmentation, externalization of phosphatdilserin. The amplitude of this effect M2Yn differed depending on the patients’condition, but were comparable with the effects of flavopiridol and hyperforin: and was found in average 3,9-fold increasing with M2Yn compared with untreated controls versus 4,1 and 5,1 fold, respectively, with two well-known inducers of apoptosis in CLL vegetable origin.

Natural extract M2Yn, like a number of anticancer / antiangiogenic compounds of plant origin (flavopiridol, resveratrol and other polyphenols, hyperforin), is capable to inducing apoptosis of primary CLL. These results show that M2Yn can be used for the treatment of CLL since this drug could activate proteasome pathway inhibition of apoptosis in CLL cells.
