Incidence rate was 40.9%. Injuries occurred most often in boys from rural areas aged from 3 to 6 years. There is a high proportion of the eyeball penetrating injuries (54,9%), in particular corneal wounds (69,4%). Concomitant changes

were traumatic cataract (9,3%), hyphema (11,5%), hemophthalmus (5,8%), intraocular foreign body (2,2%), in 3,1% of the injuries were accompanied by the development of endophthalmitis. Visual acuity on average at admission was 0,17, at discharge – 0,48 (p<0,0001). Among children with longterm results of ophthalmic trauma the formation of traumatic cataract (5,2%), chronic uveitis (2,6%) and eyeball subatrophy (0,9%) are noted. The high frequency of injuries the visual organ with a predominance of penetrating injuries among children indicates the need for sanitation and preventing measures, both among children and adults in order to reduce child ophthalmic traumatism and further disability of community.
