Frequency of arterial hypertension complications in the elderly patients

The presented studies demonstrate the importance of studying the problem of hypertension in the elderly not only in the view of medical treatment, but also the quality of life. Results of of dispensary observation and cardiologic investigation of 58 elderly patiednts suffering from hypertension, less than one year was shown.Dynamic monitoring of patients during the year revealed the nature and frequency of complications. in arterial hypertension. More common and dangerous complications such as left ventricular hypertrophy – in 49 (89%) patients, heart failure – 13 (22%), and hypertensive crisis – in 23 (40%) patients was .revealed. Efficacy of medication therapy in 42 patients conducted in accordance with the recommendations of the Russian Scientific Society of Cardiology using echocardiographic studies was evaluated. The use of beta-blockers in combination with a thiazide with ACE inhibitors improves ejection fraction 60%, stroke volume - up to 65 ml, with decreasing the heart rate to 63 per minute.
