Strategy «Treat to target» in the therapy of rheumatoid arthritis

The review presents detailed analysis and assessment of current views on the fundamental questions of rheumatoid arthritis therapy in the strategy «Treat to Target» (T2T) are presented. The most important principles of the strategy are preserving the patient’s quality of life, careful control of rheumatoid arthritis therapy, as well as the active participation of patient in the treatment process. Researches carried out in recent years shows significant advantages of the new strategy to the traditional approaches in the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
However, there are a number of topical issues, the existence of which has greatly complicates the process of implementing the strategy T2T in real clinical practice, dictates the need for further study of the effectiveness of new strategy in rheumatoid arthritis therapy , especially at early stages of disease.
