Clinical psychopathological and sociodemographic aspects of suicidal behavior of the mental patients

The article presented the analysis of suicidal behavior in persons with mental disorders. On the whole, over the study period (2005-2010) 659 suicide attempts among 264 men and 395 women were studied. Among suicide victims with mental disorders (n=137) had more registered males – 80 (58%) of women – 57 (42%).

Of the total number surveyed suicides, persons with mental disorders were 21% (n=137). The study of this aspect of problem revealed the proportion of suiciders being under psychiatrists care only in 21%.

Analyzing the structure of mental disorders of suiciders has shown that the leading syndrome was depressive- paranoid (33%), followed by depressive-hallucinatory (25%), and hallucinatory-paranoid (18%). The predominance of these syndromes due to the fact that almost half of suiciders (48%) suffered from schizophrenia. Also depressive-paranoid, depressive-hallucinatory syndromes are suicide danger able due to depression and lack of criticism to the hallucinatory and paranoid feelings.
