The research devoted to study the efficiency of reconstructive plastic surgery in congenital defects and deformities of the periorbital area in 52 patients. Patients had coloboma (7) and ptosis (13) of the upper eyelid, epicanthus (18) and congenital eyelid formations (14). Depending on the type of pathology and severity of pathological changes in the soft tissues different reconstructive plastic surgery are performed.

New methods proposed and several of existing operations improved. Among the 44 observed patients long-term good results were in 86,4% (38 cases), satisfactory – in 13,6% (6 cases). Unsatisfactory remote results were not. A careful study of patient’s pathology of periorbital area, the correct indications for different methods of reconstructive plastic surgery, improvement of treatment strategies and techniques of surgical interventions, use of the optical magnification and precision technique, as well as careful technical performance of operations allowed the authors to achieve positive (good and satisfactory) long-term results in all cases.

Keywords: periorbital area, blepharoptosis , epicantus, coloboma.
